Kim Scalzo

Kim joined SUNY in 2009 and is the Director of the State University of New York (SUNY) Center for Professional Development (CPD) with responsibility for the development and delivery of customized programs for faculty, IT staff, and campus leadership/administration across the SUNY system. Prior to joining SUNY, Kim spent 18 years in a variety of administrative and leadership roles at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Most recently she was Director of Academic Outreach Programs with overall responsibility for Rensselaer’s Summer, Continuing Education, Distance Learning, and Outreach Programs. Kim has also served as a reviewer for the New York State Education Department Office of Higher Education for several Institutional Capability Reviews for distance learning programs. She has been active in the development of the Open SUNY, a new system-wide initiative in online learning for SUNY.  Over the past five years she has participated in an EU-US project to establish international quality standards for continuing education centers. She is also a co-creator of the Bray-Scalzo Partnership Model for creating and sustaining successful partnerships.

Kim serves as an Executive Board member for the Continuing Professional Development Division of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), and is currently the Chair. She is also a member of the International Association of Continuing Engineering Education (IACEE) Council and serves as First Vice President on the IACEE Executive Committee. Additionally, she is a member SUNY’s Information Technology Exchange Center (ITEC) Executive Committee and has served as a member of the National University Telecommunications Network (NUTN) Advisory Board.
